Welcome to Newcastle U3A
Learning opportunities for seniors
Are you retired or semi-retired?
Let yourself grow through U3A

The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a self-help international organisation, where retired and semi-retired people over the age of 50 provide courses for each other. Our courses range from academic classes to a relaxed social get-together. Browse our Frequently Asked Questions page to find out more about how we operate. Membership  is only $60 a year, or $40 for Semester 2 only, and this entitles you to attend as many classes in 2019 as you choose.

Visit our Contact page to get in touch.

NU3A TURNS 30 IN 2020!

Next year is the 30th anniversary of Newcastle U3A, an incredible achievement for a non-profit, voluntary organisation that has relied on the generosity, passion and drive of its tutors, course clerks, committees and volunteers, past and present, in their commitment to keep learning and growing in what is euphemistically called the “Third Age”. There will be a number of events during the coming year to celebrate this important milestone. Your Committee will also be focusing on the future and seeking the views of every member on what you value about Newcastle U3A and what could be improved as we move into the next decade.

Course 226 Introduction to Sailing information Session

Ever wanted to sail but didn’t know where to start? This session will give you information on what is involved, what you will be doing if you then try sailing, what to wear, where to park, etc. and let you see the boats that are used before you decide to… Come and try the Discover Sailing Experience with NU3A and Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club in October! Emphasis on safety, with one of our own members, Henk Zeeman, as Course Leader and one of the qualified instructors who train our members. Note: You must enrol in the information session as the course is only open to those who attend the information session; more details see Page 12 of Our Program.
