Welcome to Newcastle U3A

Learning opportunities for retirees

Are you retired or semi-retired?   Let yourself grow through U3A

U3A is a self-help international organisation, where retired and semi-retired people provide courses for each other.  At Newcastle U3A (NU3A) our courses range from academic, skill, physically active and special interest classes, to relaxed social get-togethers.  Browse our Frequently Asked Questions or Newsletters , or view our 30th anniversary videoOlder but Bolder’, for a sneak peak.

NEWSFLASH: Membership and the Term 1 & 2 Program for 2023 is available now.

First round enrolments have been finalised and emailed to members. You can read about courses with continued availability, and some extra sessions for popular courses in the updated program. Term 1 starts 6 February. Lanyards and name badges for new members are being delivered – please wear your name badge to help us connect.

How do I sign up?

1. Pay your annual membership fee (see About Fee Payment)

2. go to How to join to complete your membership application

3. go to How to Enrol to apply online for the courses of interest.

See the Calendar for how to book our social get-togethers, excursions and opportunities to connect with other members. See Venue Maps for directions to venues.

We enourage members to wear a mask to indoor sessions. Also, to attend face-to-face classes in 2023, we encourage participants to be fully vaccinated, unless medically exempt. Please DO NOT attend if unwell, especially if infectious or presenting covid-like symptoms.  Members must assess their own circumstances to determine if face-to-face attendance is appropriate.

The Membership fee for 2023 will remain at just $60 for the calendar year.  Financial members can attend as many classes as you choose throughout the year (subject to class limits).
