Welcome to Newcastle U3A
Learning opportunities for retirees
Are you retired or semi-retired? Let yourself grow through U3A
The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a self-help international organisation, where retired and semi-retired people provide courses for each other. At Newcastle U3A (NU3A) our courses range from academic, skill and special interest classes, to relaxed social get-togethers. Browse our Frequently Asked Questions for more about how we operate.
NEWSFLASH: Our 30th Anniversary Documentary is a finalist in the MACA Media Award by NSW Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing.
From March 2020, NU3A responded to the COVID-19 crisis by closing all face-to face classes. Some classes continued on Zoom or other online formats for the remainder of Term 2 and Term 3. In Term 4, some face to face courses and excursions recommenced, together with Zoom and online. In 2021 courses are a mix of face to face and Zoom.
Current members can still apply to enrol in courses that remain open. Face to face classes in 2021 are subject to:
- compliance with government restrictions, including class size limits (and some associated venue changes)
- members complying with our COVID Safety Plan and
- members assessing their own circumstances to determine if face to face attendance is appropriate.
Please check the updated Current Program for availability of your preferred choices. You are encouraged to enrol online.
Membership fees remain at $60 for 2021 and entitle you to attend as many classes during the year as you choose (subject to class limits). To enjoy our courses and activities you must be a financial member.
Also see our Calendar of Social get-togethers for opportunities to connect with other members.
