Welcome to Newcastle U3A
Learning opportunities for seniors
Are you retired or semi-retired?
Let yourself grow through U3A
The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a self-help international organisation, where retired and semi-retired people over the age of 50 provide courses for each other. Our courses range from academic classes to a relaxed social get-together. Browse our Frequently Asked Questions page to find out more about how we operate.
Longstanding member reaches 90
No, we aren’t talking about a cricket score. Committee Member and great U3A helper Norman Birt turned 90 on 28 February. Pictured below with family friend Linda, the cake, and Norman with his daughter Virginia. Congratulations Norm.
Our 2017 activities will include a new and exciting initiative – cruising with Newcastle U3A.
For some time members have been asking for a cruise option to be added to the program and it all starts late in 2017. On November 5 a group will embark on a 6 night round trip to Tasmania, stopping at Port Arthur, Burnie and Hobart. Then on November 26 we begin a 13 night round to New Zealand, stopping at Dunedin (Port Chalmers), Akaroa (the port for Christchurch), Wellington, Napier, Tauranga (port for Rotorua), Auckland and the Bay of Islands. One day is scheduled for scenic cruising in Fiordland National Park. These are not guided tours, just groups of Newcastle U3A members travelling together and enjoying each other’s company as they share mutual experiences (or not if they so choose). Like to know more?
